| Bafel with his father Jalal |
The Arab Digest published legal and court documents pertaining to the case against Bafel Talabani, the son of incumbent Iraqi President Jalal, who pocketed dozens of millions of public funds from the coffers of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG). The U.K. High Court case provides a sample of the large funds obtained by this family; such cases of corruption have been largely behind the drop in Talabani's popularity in the Suleimaniya province and beyond.
Talabani's wife, Hero, is notorious in Kurdistan for her corruption and lavish lifestyle, while Bafel completed his education in England, and is the commander of the Special Peshmerga Cobra Force.
