Saudi forces arrest a leading Shiite cleric

The Arab Digest correspondent in Eastern Saudi Arabia has confirmed that the Saudi authorities arrested sheikh Nemr al Nemr, a leading Shiite cleric in the eastern province. Angry demonstrators are out on the streets of Awamiya heading to Qatif's Center.
The oil rich province is largely Shiite, the members of this Muslem minority has been suffering of discrimination and what they refer to as second class treatment.
The Arab Digest website was banned in Saudi Arabia for its coverage of protests in the Kingdom.
